Many teenagers use cell phones
Cell phones have become a prominent part of a teenager's life. As of 2011, 77% of teens own a cell phone (Lenhart 2012). Cell phones make it easier for teenagers to contact family and friends. They can then confer with their peers and elders concerning different problems they may be facing. This can be very beneficial and a great stress reliever. This does have a negative side to it, however. Cell phones can become very addicting (Reynolds 2009). Sleep can be lost as a result of this. Approximately one fourth of 13 to 16 year olds have their sleep patterns interrupted by incoming text messages (Ivanovic 2011). This can reduce performance in academic, athletic, or religious responsiblities.
"...Mobile telephones may be having a major impact on[...] a growing number of adolescents." ~Van den Bulck (2011)
